The best facial cleansing routine
Teresa de Miguel Miró
Thanks to the constant 'hammering' by specialists and the media, we are sure that 90% of women already know it is the most important beauty gesture, that it must be done twice a day, and that toner is indeed essential for carrying out the best facial cleansing routine you can do.
They may not always do it, but when they skip it, at least they feel a 'skin guilty conscience,' and that is already a lot.
On the other hand, we also know there are women obsessed with this gesture, which they have elevated to a ritual, who obediently practice the Korean double cleansing system morning and night, and who invest extra euros—and minutes!—in the search for the perfect complexion through cleansing. Is it necessary?
At Beldon, we staunchly defend facial cleansing as the indispensable first beauty step—whether you wear makeup or not—but we are also aware of daily complications and think it is more important to find a product suitable for our skin type and use it correctly before adding steps we might not be able to keep up with. And yes, using a toner or essence afterward is not just 'extra credit'; it is mandatory.
WHY DO YOU HAVE TO CLEANSE YOUR SKIN TWICE A DAY?
Has anyone told you what happens to the skin if it isn't cleaned properly? Well, let us do it:
- It suffocates and cannot breathe, so luminosity is nowhere to be found and the surface remains dull and opaque.
- Dirt clogs the pores and condenses inside them, making them more visible, whether you have oily skin or not.
- The accumulation of makeup residue, toxins, or environmental dirt acts as a 'barrier' and by covering the skin, prevents cosmetic treatments from penetrating to do their job.
- You will age faster. Skin that doesn't breathe 'at full lung capacity' doesn't have the strength to fight the passage of time.
Twice a day is the minimum, and don't fall into the error of thinking that because you don't wear makeup, you don't need it. Just try the test: go out 'bare-faced' for a few hours, come home, and pass a cotton pad over the surface... What color is it? That is why we are going to tell you the best step-by-step facial cleansing routine below.

HOW IS EACH MAKEUP REMOVER PRODUCT USED CORRECTLY?
We are aware that there are still doubts regarding cleansing products. Should micellar water be rinsed off with water? Should you dampen the skin before applying a cleansing milk?... There are more and more variants, and each texture or presentation requires a specific protocol.
GEL MAKEUP REMOVER
Always on a previously dampened face. An amount equivalent to a chickpea is enough for the entire face. It is advisable to massage gently, without scrubbing, and then rinse.
CLEANSING OIL
The first thing is to break the notion that they are only suitable for dry skin. Quite the contrary. Oil eats oil, and two drops are enough.
In this case, it should be applied to a dry face, eyes, and lips. You must massage and then rinse. If you have very dry skin, you can remove the product with a cotton pad and skip the water.
CLEANSING MILK
The amount of product should be equivalent to a hazelnut and it should be spread over a dry face, eyes, and lips. It is best to remove the product with a cotton pad after massaging well, or with water.
CLEANSING FOAM
Always apply to a damp face. Massage gently so it can work its magic and then rinse with water. The perfect dose is equivalent to the size of a walnut.
MICELLAR WATER
Directly on a dry face using a cotton pad. And be careful: do not scrub, but use small taps, as the micelles are responsible for trapping dirt like a magnet. There is no need to rinse with water, either.
WIPES
These should be reserved for emergencies or travel. You must slide them over a dry face, being careful not to exert too much pressure. They do not require rinsing.
SOLID CLEANSERS
These are the newcomers and the ones that cause the most confusion. Ideally, dampen the skin slightly beforehand so they lather more, and rub between wet hands for about four seconds until you get the necessary amount.
