Luxury cosmetics
Teresa de Miguel Miró
We are talking about luxury cosmetics, as it is more than necessary to clarify the year. The codes of luxury have changed so much in recent times that they have triggered a true cosmetic schism between the artificially expensive and ostentatious, and the new values of cleanliness, transparency, naturalness, and rigor that define a truly luxurious cream today.
What in the 90s and 2000s was defined by an exorbitant price, creams that reached percentages like '20 euros per ml of product,' jewel jars that invited you to turn their pieces into a bracelet or pendant once the product was finished, or the claim of associating the treatment with some of the highest-paid actresses in the international firmament, now competes for other differentiating aspects.

The new codes of luxury cosmetics
- Products with a waiting list. Yes. But not just because they go viral through a TikTok video, but because many of them are 'hand made,' manufactured in micro-batches, or cannot afford large runs at once given the exclusivity of their formulas or the rarity and scarcity of their raw materials.
- They include independent and measurable efficacy tests. This is another point to take very much into account, and it is what truly demonstrates the efficacy of a product beyond the subjective opinions of tests conducted with potential consumers.
- The INCI is what rules. True luxury is not exposing the skin to potentially toxic substances. 'Clean' cosmetics are the most sought-after now, above 'natural' ones, and they are the ones that exclude ingredients contained in the so-called "black list" from their list of ingredients and explain with order, rigor, and clarity everything the product contains.
- Brands founded by dermatologists, aesthetic doctors… The prefix 'Dr' before the name of a cosmetic brand indicates extensive knowledge regarding how the skin works and its needs.
- Simplicity is key. Their formulas speak for themselves and they do not need flashy packaging to attract followers.
- Having principles is also a luxury. And even more so today. Respect for nature, the planet in general, and sustainable commerce are brand values that are increasingly taken into account by the final consumer.
- Years of research. There are firms that even put a product on the market six weeks after an influencer declares a certain trend, even knowing that they are doomed to planned obsolescence. Authentic luxury cosmetics invest years—and even decades—in R&D and even have their own patents.
- Unique textures. Powders that transform into a mousse upon contact with the skin, biphasic formulas, oils that turn into balms when they melt into the skin… the sensory aspect is covered and the cosmetic routine is understood as the moment of pleasure it should be.

Is the new luxury expensive?
Indeed, all of this also has a price, but it is always justified. The hours of research by the best specialists must be paid for; the most exclusive natural raw materials are more expensive than synthetic ones. Doing without plastic and opting for recyclable or recycled glass jars is also more expensive, and offering packaging sourced from sustainable forests increases the final price.
To compensate, the new luxury prefers to save on advertising campaigns and trust in word-of-mouth, or 'skin-to-skin,' in results that invite one to repeat the treatment and in a clean slate regarding complaints or criticism from users.
On occasion, these are firms that do not associate with large—and sometimes impersonal—retailers and prefer a close, one-on-one point of sale, whether physical or online, with personalized diagnostics and fluid communication between the brand and the client.
At Beldon, we consider that we offer luxury cosmetics, but we are sure that not a single cent is added to the real value of the product and that the only one with the authority to decide if something is expensive is the skin itself through the effects it experiences with a given treatment. Another luxury we practice daily is offering the best personalized and free diagnosis to all our clients before recommending anything.

TREATMENTS THAT ARE LUXURIOUS IN THEIR OWN RIGHT
Lait E.V. by Biologique Recherche
The brand's name is not random, and high biological research is its hallmark. This product does not limit itself to cleaning or removing makeup from the skin and provides pluses like its ultra-hydrating and antioxidant capacity, which is reinforced with vitamins E, A, and F that help protect against oxidative and environmental stressors that cause the aging process to accelerate. It also contains peptides that firm and strengthen the skin, ensuring it is completely restored after each cleansing.
The Facial High by Ayuna
It is a powder-to-lotion formula that visually transforms the skin, improving its feel and appearance. Daily use of this acidic colloidal system optimizes the results of the facial beauty routine. It also helps keep the skin microbiota in balance, unifies the complexion, promotes a natural glow, and helps maintain healthier skin. Furthermore, the firm is one of the standard-bearers of sustainability in all aspects.

Sun Drops by Dr. Barbara Sturm
An innovative SPF 50 sunscreen serum with a light texture. Its formula contains an active complex of cassia extract, vitamin E, beta-glucan that fights oxidative damage, and purslane with anti-aging power that calms and reduces the visible signs of irritation.
And her? Dr. Barbara Sturm is the favorite facialist of Hollywood celebrities. She doesn't need to brag about it to be a true cult brand for its results. That is why she had to be included among the best luxury cosmetics in this article.
