Interview with
Teresa From Miguel
How to fall in love with our existence
After developing her career as an entrepreneur in the world of beauty, Teresa de Miguel presents Beldon Medical: an ambitious commitment to bespoke health.
Biography
I studied Law because it was a degree that allowed me to help people. However, I am very creative and had always been drawn to the world of entrepreneurship. Added to this is the fact that, from a very young age, my mother taught me how important it is to take care of oneself. That is why, one day, I decided to change everything and be brave. Usually, what we want is on the other side of fear. And so, I combined what I love most in this life: helping, interior design, and beauty.
From that passion, your first concept was born in 2011, MyLittleMomó, a beauty treatment space in a different environment. Why did you decide years later to create Beldon Beauty, and what does it mean to you?
I felt a desire to launch another brand with the ingredients that I considered to have been the success of MyLittleMomó: exquisiteness, treatment, and experience, but doing things differently. More focused on personalized facial and body protocols.
That is how I created Beldon Beauty, which for me means helping people feel better, both inside and out. There is no point in taking care of yourself on the outside if you don't have peace with yourself on the inside or if you aren't healthy.
Beldon Beauty also means personalization. I believe that in the beauty world, they sell us a lot of immediacy and all kinds of brands. When the reality is that not everything is suitable for everyone. I perceived that there was a lot of supply, but little personalization. That care was missing with which you have to treat a client before a treatment: listening to them, knowing what they want to achieve, and ensuring they choose the right protocol for their specific moment and skin type.
So, in the beginning, we started with facial and body treatments that were highly personalized, based on a philosophy of honesty. People must know that “miracles don’t exist” and that you have to take care of yourself every day. Beauty centers, gyms, or wellness spaces are a support, but what makes the difference is what we do each day. That is why our work doesn’t end in the treatment room and goes much further through follow-ups.
“Beldon Beauty means helping people feel better, both inside and out”
In a short time since its creation, Beldon Beauty has evolved digitally, has its own space at 9 Lagasca Street in Madrid, and has just opened a spa at BLESS Hotel Madrid. Why did you decide to introduce the brand into this hotel?
The truth is that they called us, and I was very excited. We share a philosophy in aspects that are important to me. One of our values is a passion for excellence, and at BLESS Hotel Madrid, they have a value they call a commitment to excellence, which is something absolutely similar.
We are both oriented towards the pursuit of perfection, doing things with heart. That translates into exquisite service, where we perform very well. So, the pieces fit together.
The latest project you have just started is Beldon Medical. What does it consist of?
Beldon Medical closes the 360º care circle with aesthetic medicine services, longevity programs, nutrition, training, and coaching, with the aim of raising awareness about the importance of being proactive and taking charge of one's health. Now, life expectancy has increased significantly, and we all like to be in a healthy state as the years go by.
To do this, you have to pay attention to your health before you feel bad. At Beldon Medical, we are going to provide all the tools to age while feeling well, as life progresses. I like to call it “aging management,” but not talk about anti-aging, since aging is something natural that happens to us all. Even if it seems strange, we are aging from the moment we are born.
What importance will aesthetic medicine have within Beldon Medical?
Aesthetic medicine will be just one more tool, but it is of no use if a person is not well internally. Also, I believe it can work when it is used with naturalness, not to transform people. That is why the vision of Beldon Medical is precisely that: trying to explain that aesthetic medicine should not be transformative at all. It has to be an enhancer of who we are. I think it is a great ally. Well used, it seems to me to be an impressive weapon.
What are you most passionate about regarding the project?
Continuing to help people. I love it. I believe life is easier when we help each other. I really do go home every day thinking, “What have I done today to be a better person and help others?” That motivates me, and I hope that at Beldon Medical, people feel helped. “We are oriented towards the pursuit of perfection. Doing things with heart”
What would you like people who come to Beldon Medical to say?
I would love for their lives to improve with their time here. It is very easy to talk about diets and changes in habits, but it is difficult to put them into practice. I would like Beldon Medical to be the stimulus to take the first step. Without a doubt, the first step doesn’t take you where you want to go, but it gets you out of where you are.
If we serve to help people become aware of the importance of a lifestyle that helps them feel good in their skin over the years—to not want to be the person across the way, but to love oneself and feel good—I would feel satisfied.
Also, I would love for them to feel at home at Beldon Medical. That is why we have tried to create a home. I believe the people who choose us deserve to feel at home. That seems extremely important to me and is a hallmark of everything we do.
“I would love for people’s lives to improve with their time here”
What is the best advice you have ever been given?
It is hard to know which is the best. One of the latest I have received is to keep believing in my instinct and intuition. One I was given in a difficult moment: “Be brave.” And the ones I value the most are my husband’s. He always has the exact words when I need them most.
Relationship with beauty:
What is beauty to you and how does it influence your day-to-day life?
One of the best things about beauty is that it is very difficult to define, and for everyone, it is something different. Without a doubt, it is found in many areas; you have to know how to appreciate it and bring it to people. It is more a matter of attitude than physical parameters, since with that attitude, we can even improve the perception others have of us.
Who are your beauty icons?
Honestly, I don’t have icons as such, and my reference in beauty are the people who catch my attention for their style and because they know how to stand out from what is seen everywhere. Less is always more.
- Beauty Questionnaire:
What is your morning routine?
I wash my face with the fasting soap (I haven’t stopped using it since I was lucky enough to try it during the lockdown), I apply a vitamin C serum, eye cream, moisturizer in different textures depending on my skin’s needs at the moment, and concealer. I also take my supplements and I usually fast until about midday.
An infallible trick or product
Brushing your lips so they have a nicer tone, and sleeping with a bun so my hair stays a little wavy when I wake up.
How do you take care of your beauty from the inside?
By helping others, practicing gratitude every day for the good things I have and that happen to me, taking care of what my body consumes, and being as kind as I can to the people I interact with.
Pending task (as far as beauty is concerned)
To be disciplined with my eyebrows again and incorporate new active ingredients into my night routine.
